Program Overview

SummerQuest is a place-based day camp located at the Crane Estate in Ipswich, MA. Each day our campers set out to explore 2,000 acres of the most dazzling coastal landscape in New England. Rooted in the experiential, our programs are thematic and interdisciplinary, based on a carefully crafted scaffolding of education, exploration, recreation and reflection.

Our staff represents a sundry arrangement of backgrounds and interests. We are compassionate role models, natural mentors, armchair historians, outdoor enthusiasts, budding artists, amateur ecologists, techno wizards, literary aficionados, and good friends. More importantly, we are teachers, in the most meaningful sense of the word, each with something unique and distinctive to offer the camp, each dedicated to the growth and enrichment of our campers and ourselves.

Position Description

The Lead Educator implements camp programs under the supervision of the Program Director. Primary responsibilities include the daily execution of theme-driven camp programs developed in consultation with other camp staff – designed to peel back the layers of history and ecology that make up the estate’s unique identity. This work also includes the direct supervision and safe keeping of our campers and the informal mentorship of our assistant camp educators. Secondary responsibilities include the generation of weekly program evaluations and camper awards, the management of photo and video content, active participation in weekly program development meetings, and administrative record keeping.
