Registration for the 2009 MEES Conference is Now Open!

mees2009-register-now.gifConference date: March 4, 2009
Earlybird deadline: January 16, 2009
Registration deadline: February 6, 2009

Each year for more than three decades, environmental educators from Massachusetts and beyond have gathered to share their ideas, stories, and resources. The conference draws a diverse audience including classroom teachers from pre-school to college, museum and nature center staff and administrators, and community resource leaders.

This year's theme is Environmental Sustainability in Our Schools, Centers, and Selves. Environmental sustainability is an important and timely topic, both locally and nationally.  The term as used here refers to the potential longevity of vital human ecological systems, such as climate, agriculture, industry, forestry, and fisheries.

Join your fellow teachers both formal and informal, musuem and nature center staff, and everyone who is dedicated to providing experiences that educate, excite, and commit all generations to preserve the environment and to promote its responsible use.

Observer 2008: Issue 3 - Going Green: Energizing EE...Plugging into EE

To help energize environmental education for our members, this issue of the Observer offers a many great articles to inspire both educators and students to ‘plug into’ environmental education.  Articles range from a classroom teacher’s experience in successfully incorporating lessons learned at the MEES Conference into her classroom to an outdoor educator who encourages children and parents to get outdoors and explore.  We’ve included informative articles about programs such as the Envirothon and StoryWalks that you can use to help your students, whether young or old, plug into EE.  In addition to these featured articles, we’ve included several timely resources, reviews, and professional development, grant, and funding opportunities.  Enjoy!
